Balancing the need to protect people’s privacy, safety, and right to free speech is key to its goal.

Understanding and addressing digital dangers and harms is of utmost importance in today’s globally networked environment. Over 16,000 people in 16 countries were polled for Microsoft’s 2023 Global Online Safety Survey, and the results are shocking: 69% of those surveyed have encountered online threats in the previous year.

The necessity of addressing digital concerns including hate speech, cyberbullying, misinformation, and threats of violence is highlighted by this huge number, which shows how pervasive these problems are.
