What is The News About?

There are billions of molecular machines inside each cell of every living thing. Proteins, DNA, and other molecules make them up, but none of them function independently. To begin to comprehend the workings of life, we must see their interactions in their myriad permutations.

Why Is It Important?

AlphaFold 3, a ground-breaking model that can accurately predict the structure and interactions of all molecules involved in life, in a Nature publication. Our prediction accuracy for protein-molecule interactions is at least 50% higher than that of previous approaches, and for certain key types of interactions, it has doubled. The 3D joint structure of the molecules given an input list is generated using AlphaFold 3, displaying their intermolecular interactions. It represents both major biomolecules like proteins, DNA, and RNA and smaller ones, called ligands, which include many medications.
