The company was launched in 2021 by three co-founders Ioan IacobRadu Cautis and Serban Chiricescu, and within two years has secured partnerships with large system integrators and driven hundreds of millions of dollars in ROI for leading financial institutions across Europe. Major clients already include leading European banking group OTP, which has $85 billion in AUM, the largest bank in South Eastern Europe, Banca Transilvania, as well as one of the largest banking groups in Central EuropeAlpha Bank.

Today the business has a team of almost 50 people across Europe and USand is embarking on rapid expansion with a view to becoming the global go-to solution in the space of enterprise application modernization.

Ioan Iacob, FlowX.AI Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said: For a long time enterprises have been promised useful tools for modernizing their business. Many promises have been made over the years related to speed of digital product development, no code / low code, citizen programmers, and many others. But these promises have not been kept. Instead, enterprises got a thousand disjointed point solutions and ended up captive to inflexible solutions, vendors, and proprietary technologies. FlowX.AI addresses this problem. We are proud our platform has been consistently enabling customers to accelerate application modernization in an unprecedented way: what used to take years is now being done in weeks. We’ve now truly proven our product and are ready to bring FlowX.AI to even more customers. Our Series A funding will allow us to bring to market a number of innovations that will bring AI to enterprise on a large scale, and to expand our geographic footprint.”

A best-in-class solution to a trillion-dollar problem

FlowX.AI was originally founded as an application modernization platform to solve a trillion-dollar problem for financial institutions: how to quickly build mission-critical modern digital solutions on top of complex legacy systems.

Until now, large banks and enterprises operating on legacy infrastructure have been spending huge sums on maintaining old systems while creating new apps and products. To put this into context, companies worldwide spent almost $2 trillion on digital transformation projects last year and software errors cost the US economy alone more than $2 trillion. These projects are not only expensive; they are often slow, require intense tech talent input, and can go significantly wrong when risky “rip and replace” processes on core legacy systems are attempted. (For example, one UK retail bank was recently fined for failings that occurred as it migrated from legacy to new software – a migration that saw 1.9 million customers locked out of their accounts for five days).

AiThority Interview Insights: AiThority Interview with Ramsey Masri, Chief Executive Officer at Ceres Imaging

Evgenia Plotnikova, General Partner at Dawn Capital, said: “Tech innovation continues to accelerate, yet the businesses that underpin our everyday lives are running on century-old technology. We can use our phones to get AI to generate a travel itinerary in seconds, but it takes years for our banks to offer new mortgage products. Enterprise leaders want to rapidly increase the pace of change, and FlowX.AI offers an elegant and intuitive solution. It abstracts away horse-and-carriage legacy infrastructure, and ensures users are only ever exposed to a spaceship experience. Ioan and his team are further proof that tech innovation is on fire across Europe, and we are thrilled to be supporting them as FlowX.AI becomes a truly global player.”

The platform’s capabilities mean that large enterprises can develop within weeks, rather than years, modern digital capabilities which are essential for them to remain competitive and even to survive. New products built on the FlowX.AI technology require minimal maintenance going forward, helping future-proof tech stacks and budgets, and reducing the cost of infrastructure.

“We strive each day to deliver the most efficient global network, as we drive towards net zero emissions in our operations,” said Andy Markus, chief data officer at AT&T. “Working with NVIDIA to drive AI solutions across our business will help enhance experiences for both our employees and customers.”

“Industries are embracing a new era in which chatbots, recommendation engines and accelerated libraries for data optimization help produce AI-driven innovations,” said Manuvir Das, vice president of Enterprise Computing at NVIDIA. “Our work with AT&T will help the company better mine its data to drive new services and solutions for the AI-powered telco.”

Latest Insights: Why Only AI and Data Analytics Can Stop Financial Criminals

The Data Dilemma

AT&T, which has pledged to be carbon neutral by 2035, has instituted broad initiatives to make its operations more efficient. A major challenge is optimizing energy consumption while providing network infrastructure that delivers data at high speeds.

AT&T processes more than 590 petabytes of data on average a day. That is the equivalent of about 6.5 million 4K movies or more than 8x the content housed in the U.S. Library of Congress if all its collections were digitized.

Telecoms aiming to reduce energy consumption face challenges across their operations. Within networks, the radio access network (RAN) consumes 73% of energy, while core network services, data centers and operations use 13%, 9% and 5%, respectively, according to the GSMA, a mobile industry trade group.

AT&T first adopted NVIDIA RAPIDS Accelerator for Apache Spark to capitalize on energy-efficient GPUs across its AI and data science pipelines. This helped boost its operational efficiency across everything from training AI models and maintaining network quality and optimization, to reducing customer churn and improving fraud detection.

Of the data and AI pipelines targeted with Spark-RAPIDS, AT&T saves about half of its cloud computing spend and sees faster performance, while enabling reductions in its carbon footprint.

AiThority: The 3 Building Blocks to Make AI Accessible

Enhanced Field Dispatch Services

AT&T, which operates one of the largest field dispatch teams to service its customers, is currently testing NVIDIA cuOpt software to enhance its field dispatch capabilities to handle more complex technician routing and optimization challenges.

Routing requires trillions of computations to factor in a variety of factors, from traffic and weather conditions to customer change of plans or a technician’s skill level, where a complicated job might then require an additional truck roll.

In early trials, cuOpt delivered solutions in 10 seconds, while the same computation on x86 CPUs took 1,000 seconds. The results yielded a 40% reduction in cloud costs and allowed technicians to complete more service calls each day. NVIDIA cuOpt allows AT&T to run nearly continuous dispatch optimization software by combining NVIDIA RAPIDS with local search heuristics algorithms and metaheuristics such as Tabu search.

Pleasing Customers, Speeding Network Design

As part of its efforts to improve productivity for its more than 150,000 employees, AT&T is moving to adopt NVIDIA Omniverse ACE and NVIDIA Tokkio, cloud-native AI microservices, workflows and application frameworks for developers to easily build, customize and deploy interactive avatars that see, perceive, intelligently converse and provide recommendations to enhance the customer service experience.

For conversational AI, the carrier also uses the NVIDIA Riva software development kit and is examining other customer service and operations use cases for digital twins and generative AI.

The global study among senior executives including CEOs found 61% are more modest and are predicting slight growth while just 15% believe advertising budgets will remain at around the same level as today.

Growing budgets for advertising mean the executives questioned in the UK, US, France, Germany, Canada, Australia are increasingly looking for better ways to measure the reach and effectiveness of campaigns.

Alfi’s study shows executives are generally happy with the campaign data available but just 21% rate it as ‘excellent’ while 65% describe it as ‘good’. However, 14% say it is average or poor.

That is driving increased interest in the use of QR codes in Digital Out of Home (DOOH) advertising, which enables advertisers to measure exactly how impactful their campaigns are through first-party data which is accessible instantly.

More than a third (34%) of senior executives believe the importance of QR codes in advertising will increase dramatically over the next two years while 56% believe it will increase slightly.

“The global advertising industry is going from strength to strength after recovering strongly in 2021 to hit a new record high** and the indications are that it will continue in 2022 and beyond,” said Peter Bordes, Interim CEO, Alfi. “Increased spending should mean increasing the focus on measurement and data, which explains the growing use of technology and QR codes in particular.”

Bordes concluded: “Throughout the industry we can expect a higher focus on data-driven insights by expanding advertising capabilities, analytical sophistication and delivering it all seamlessly over multiple devices – thus leading to not only confident purchase behaviours but greater one-to-one connections with consumers.”
